Golden Paradise Fish Care in Singapore
The Golden Paradise Fish is a luminous colour form of one of the oldest fish in the hobby, a hardy labyrinth species that gulps air at the surface and tolerates a wide range of conditions. It carries flowing fins and bold colour, making a single male a genuine centrepiece. Males can be territorial towards each other and towards similar long-finned fish, so we advise keeping one male and choosing robust, non-nippy tankmates.
Being a labyrinth breather, it copes well in warm, lower-oxygen water, which suits our SG climate where ambient 27 to 29C means many tanks run heaterless. Our soft, slightly acidic tap water is fine once dechlorinated. They appreciate calm surface water, floating plants and dim, planted cover; a secure lid is wise, since like many anabantids they can be surprisingly bold near the surface.
Acclimate gently and plan tankmates around the male’s temperament. Explore the wider others range, read our paradise fish care guide and tank mates guide, and follow our acclimation guide.
