Using JBL Denitrol to Cycle a Tank in Singapore
Denitrol is a live bacterial starter we recommend whenever you set up a new tank, do a large water change, or restock after treating illness. Our tap water in Singapore is treated with chloramine, which is harder on a young filter than plain chlorine because it lingers, so seeding fresh media with live nitrifiers gives the colony a real head start instead of waiting for it to drift in on its own.
The bacteria and enzymes work on the ammonia and nitrite that fish waste and uneaten food produce, the pollutants that cause most early losses. Shake the bottle well, measure into the dosing cap, and distribute it across the tank rather than pouring it in one spot.
