Using the Jeneca UV-02 Bulb in Singapore Tanks

The UV-02 is the replacement lamp for compatible Jeneca hang-on units, and in our experience it earns its keep most in Singapore’s warm, brightly lit flats. Our ambient 27-29C and the strong daylight that streams into many HDB and condo living rooms can push free-floating algae spores into a bloom fast. Passing water past an active UV bulb knocks those spores back, which is why customers near windows ask us for one almost immediately.

A UV lamp is consumable, not eternal. The quartz keeps glowing long after its germicidal output has faded, so we tell hobbyists to swap the bulb roughly yearly rather than wait for it to die. If your once-clear tank slowly greens despite good maintenance, an aged lamp is usually the culprit. Match the wattage and fitting to your specific Jeneca model before ordering, since not every unit in the range accepts the same bulb.
