Selaginella Kraussia Big Leaf in Humid Setups
Selaginella Kraussia Big Leaf is a low-spreading spikemoss with broader, lush green foliage than the finer club mosses. As with the rest of this genus, we treat it as a terrestrial creeping plant rather than a submerged aquatic, so it earns its place carpeting the land section of a paludarium or riparium, or trailing over hardscape in a misted vivarium. Kept underwater it will not last.
Our year-round humidity is exactly what this plant wants, recreating the damp forest understorey it grows in naturally. Root it into moist substrate near your waterline, give it indirect light, and let it knit into a soft green mat over time. Mist occasionally if your enclosure runs drier, and trim runners to direct its spread where you want coverage.
