SUDO S-720 Turtle Sand for Singapore Turtle Keepers

This SUDO Turtle Sand is a natural white gravel formulated specifically for turtle tanks, where it does more than line the base. The calcium it supplies supports healthy shell growth, and it helps buffer the water against the gradual acidification that turtle waste drives, holding pH steadier between water changes. For Singapore keepers running red-eared sliders and similar species in warm indoor tanks, that stabilising effect is genuinely useful given how quickly a heavily fed turtle fouls its water in our climate.

A 1kg bag suits a basking-and-swim setup as a substrate layer or as a calcium top-up in an existing tank. Turtles are messy by nature, so pair it with strong filtration and stay on top of water changes regardless; the sand buffers, but it isn’t a substitute for cleaning. Rinse it before adding to clear any fines, and spread it as a thin, even layer rather than a deep bed so waste doesn’t trap underneath it and turn anaerobic over time.
