SUNSUN JS 400/600 Overhead Filter for Singapore Aquariums

The JS-400 and JS-600 are top-mounted overhead filters that pump water up into a large filter box where it trickles back through your media, adding oxygen as it falls. Resin potting gives good insulation and guards against leaks, while the retractable bottom bracket adjusts to span a range of tank widths. The generous box lets you add your own filter materials for a configuration that suits your stocking.

Overhead filters are a classic choice in Singapore for their simplicity and the strong surface agitation they create, which boosts oxygen in our warm 27-29C water where dissolved oxygen is naturally lower. The trickle action exposes media to air, supporting efficient biological filtration. Pack mechanical media on top to catch debris before water reaches the biological layers, and rinse it in old tank water during cleaning rather than under chloraminated tap.
