Bucephalandra Brownie Pink in Singapore Tanks

Brownie Pink is sought after for the soft pinkish blush its newer leaves can show, a colour that stands out against green carpets and dark hardscape when conditions stay stable. It is a hardy Borneo rhizome plant that tolerates our 27-29C ambient water without temperature control, and like the rest of the Brownie line it grows slowly and stays compact, which suits the small planted and shrimp tanks favoured in HDB and condo setups across the island.

Attach the rhizome to rock or wood and keep it above the substrate; burying it causes rot in warm tap water. Buce care mirrors Anubias, so low to moderate light and gentle flow are ideal, and high light tends to wash out the colour while encouraging algae on the slow foliage. After planting, a brief settling period with minor leaf loss is normal before fresh, acclimated growth appears from the rhizome with the characteristic tint.

For colouring up your Buce read our Bucephalandra care guide, and troubleshoot any leaf issues with fixing browning Bucephalandra leaves. Browse companions in our epiphytes range.
