Bucephalandra Green Gecko for SG Aquariums
Green Gecko is a bright, easygoing Buce with vivid green leaves that stay fresh-looking and make a clean contrast against darker varieties and wood. It is a hardy Borneo rhizome plant that takes our 27-29C ambient water in stride without any chiller, and its slow, tidy growth suits the compact nano and shrimp tanks common in Singapore homes. The textured leaves develop biofilm that cherry shrimp graze happily, so it earns its place in shrimp-focused setups.
Mount the rhizome on rock or driftwood and keep it above the substrate, because burying it leads to rot in warm tap water. Buce care closely follows Anubias, so low to moderate light and gentle flow are all it asks; pushing high light only invites algae on the slow foliage. Expect a brief settling-in period after planting, sometimes with minor leaf loss, before the rhizome sends out new growth fully adapted to your tank’s conditions.
