Echinodorus Argentinensis for Large Singapore Display Tanks

One of the larger swords we stock, E. argentinensis needs genuine space, so we steer it toward bigger display tanks rather than nano scapes. Its sturdy, ornamental leaves look especially good in open-top aquariums where the emersed foliage can break the surface. In Singapore’s warm 27-29C range it grows readily, and with patience and good conditions it can even push up flower shoots carrying white blossoms above the water.

Give it a nutrient-rich substrate and moderate to strong lighting to fuel that vigorous rosette. As a heavy root feeder it responds well to root tabs tucked in around the base, and a deep enough substrate bed lets the extensive root system anchor properly. Plant the crown at substrate level, leave it room to spread, and trim away spent outer leaves. Because of its eventual size, factor in floor loading if you are running a large tank in an HDB or condo unit.
