Staurogyne bihar for foreground carpets
Staurogyne bihar is a tough, low-growing foreground plant we recommend to scapers who want carpet-like coverage without the fussiness of true micro-carpets. It spreads by creeping side shoots and, with regular trimming, knits into a low green mat across the front of the tank. Compared to delicate hairgrass it forgives the occasional dosing or CO2 hiccup, which makes it a sensible first carpet for many Singapore hobbyists.
We sell it as a pest-free portion that you can snip into several small cuttings and plant in a grid; the closer you space them, the faster the front fills in. Bright light keeps it compact and prevents it from growing tall and leggy. Our ambient 27-29C suits it without a heater, and it pearls nicely once CO2 and flow reach the substrate evenly.
