Description

Cholla Driftwood comes from the dried husk of the Cholla Cactus and is popular in shrimp tanks. It offers great hiding spots for shrimp and encourages bio-film growth, which serves as a natural food source for shrimp and baby fish. You can also attach mosses, Marimo Balls, Buce, Anubias, or other plants to create a natural sunken log effect in your aquarium. The wood may release tannins, causing a slight yellow or brown tint in the water, which will fade over time. Boiling before use can help reduce this.
Size:

Cholla Tunnel Tubes Single S (10cm)

Cholla Tunnel Tubes Single M (15cm)

Important note: This tunnel is best suited for freshwater shrimp or small fry. If you have larger, curious fish or other fauna (such as a betta fish) that may try to explore such small crevices, there is a risk they may get caught or stuck in the tunnel. Please be mindful of this before placing in your aquarium.
Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1-2 hours to help release tannins.

ANS Cholla Tunnel Tubes for SG shrimp tanks

Cholla wood, the dried husk of the cholla cactus, is a shrimp-tank staple we keep stocked for Singapore breeders, and these single S and M tunnel tubes are especially handy. The hollow, perforated structure is the perfect scale for cherry and crystal shrimp to crawl through and shelter in, while the porous surface grows the biofilm that shrimplets and small fish graze on as a constant natural food. You can also tie moss, Marimo, Buce or Anubias along the tube for an instant overgrown look.

Like other natural wood, it may release a little tannin and tint the water lightly in our warm tanks; a quick boil before use reduces that and helps it sink. Cholla suits the soft, slightly acidic tap water most of us keep, and the tannins it gives off are mild and shrimp-friendly rather than something to fight.
