ANS Dragon Wood M for Natural SG Aquascapes

Dragon Wood, also sold as Honeycomb wood, is prized for its arching branches and open gaps that small fish love to dart through, making the medium 20 to 30cm pieces a strong central feature for nano and mid-size tanks. We reach for it when a customer wants the structure of dragon stone but in timber, or a contrasting dark-brown anchor for a planted or shrimp scape. Its intricate form throws genuine depth into a layout without crowding the footprint.

Like most aquarium wood, fresh pieces leach tannins and may float at first. In our warm, humid climate we recommend a soak or a gentle boil to waterlog the wood and shed the worst of the tannins before it goes in, or weigh it down against rock until it sinks on its own. The tea-coloured tint that follows is harmless and often desirable in soft-water tanks; carbon or water changes clear it if you prefer crystal water.
