The diffuser cup is the bell-shaped glass chamber that traps incoming gas and presses it through the ceramic membrane, turning a coarse stream into the fine mist planted-tank keepers want. We see it used as a clean, in-tank diffusion point in nano and mid-size aquascapes, where the Opti glass stays nearly invisible against the layout instead of drawing the eye like bulkier plastic units.

Mounted low and toward the rear, the cup lets micro-bubbles rise through the water column so more CO2 dissolves before it reaches the surface. In our warm 27-29C tanks, where gas leaves solution quickly, that longer contact path genuinely helps efficiency. Give the ceramic a gentle bleach soak every few weeks, since Singapore’s mineral-light tap water and biofilm slowly clog the pores and starve your bubble rate.
