Description

High quality activated granular carbon. Immediately removes impurities from the water, coloring substances and causing water turbidity, thanks to which it significantly improves its clarity. At the same time, it removes medication residues and compounds accumulated in water. It also perfectly fits the needs of ULNS aquariums, very heavily stocked with SPS corals.

Dosage: 100 ml per 100 l of aquarium water. The product can be used both in the fluidised filter and in the filter mesh. We recommend rinsing it with RODI water before using Carbon. The recommended water flow is 500 l/h. Carbon should be replaced every 4 weeks.

Product for aquarium use only. Not suitable for human consumption. Keep away from children.

Running AF Carbon in Singapore reef and freshwater tanks

Activated carbon is the quiet workhorse of a polished tank, and AF Carbon is the granular grade we keep on hand for keepers chasing water clarity. It pulls out the dissolved organics, tannins and discolouration that make water look tired, and is genuinely useful for stripping medication residues after a treatment course. Reefers running ultra-low-nutrient SPS systems lean on it to keep the water gin-clear and yellowing at bay.

The practical tip we always pass on is to rinse it in RO/DI water before use, since dropping unrinsed carbon straight into a tank clouds everything with fine dust. Run it in a reactor or media bag with gentle flow, and replace it on a sensible cycle rather than leaving exhausted carbon sitting in the system. In our warm climate, organics accumulate quickly, so a steady carbon routine pays off.

It sits among our filter media stock. To get the most from it, read our activated carbon complete guide and, for media layout, our filter media guide.
