Description
An agent for maintaining constant levels of minerals in reef aquariums. Using Reef Mineral Salt is one of the most important elements during supplementation of calcium chloride and sodium bicarbonate (i.e. Balling Method). Lack of Reef Mineral Salt supplementation leads to dangerous minerals deficiency. Long-term shortages of micro and macronutrients result with excessive slowdown of growth and invalid, pale colouration of corals.Dosage: dissolve 25 g in 1000 ml RODI water. In order to maintain ionic balance, it is recommended to apply also: Calcium, KH Buffer and Magnesium, which doses should be established based on water tests and daily corals’ consumption.Solution of Reef Mineral Salt should be dosed with the same liquid-amounts as solutions of Calcium and KH Buffer.Reef Mineral salt dosing cannot be treated as an equivalent of important water changes, which are still necessary.Product for aquarium use only. Not suitable for human consumption. Keep away from children. Why Balling reefers need AF Reef Mineral Salt 400g
Reef Mineral Salt is the part of the Balling method that hobbyists most often overlook, and skipping it quietly undoes the rest of the work. When you dose calcium chloride and sodium bicarbonate to hold up calcium and alkalinity, you slowly deplete the minor and trace minerals that natural seawater also carries; this 400g product replaces them so the ionic balance stays intact. Without it, local reefers eventually see growth slow and coral colours go pale despite textbook calcium and KH readings.
Dissolve it in RO/DI water as directed and dose it in step with your calcium, KH buffer and magnesium, treating the four as one coordinated system rather than separate bottles. We mix and store our stock solutions in clean, labelled containers kept away from heat, since our humidity and ambient warmth are not kind to opened reef chemistry left lying around.
