biOrb Lava Rock with Fire Coral Ornament for Local Tanks

This Samuel Baker-designed lava rock and fire coral piece is one of the easier ways to give a biOrb a real focal point without committing to live rock or coral, neither of which is practical in a small acrylic sphere here. We like it because the warm orange tones read well under the standard or MCR light, and the hollow base is shaped to slip over the central airline tube, hiding the one bit of biOrb hardware that otherwise spoils the underwater illusion.

For Singapore homes it is a sensible centrepiece: inert, heavy enough to stay put, and a 360-degree sculpture so it looks finished from every angle in an open-plan condo where the tank is viewed from all sides. Drop it in, seat it over the tube, then arrange faux plants or pebbles around the foot. During water changes we lift it and rinse off any film in old tank water rather than scrubbing, which keeps the painted finish bright.
