Bolbitis Heudelotii
Large motherplant, grown in a 9 cm square pot.
Bolbitis comes from West Africa, a fern with very beautiful transparent green leaves, 15-40 cm tall and wide.
When planting do not cover the rhizome because it will rot, and it is best to plant Bolbitis heudelotii on a root or stone.
Keep the plant in position with fishing line until it has gained a hold.
Easy to propagate by splitting the horizontal rhizome.
Growth can be increased considerably by supplying CO2, and is only optimal in soft, slightly acidic water.

Tropica Bolbitis Heudelotii XL for Singapore Aquascapes
This XL Bolbitis is a generous motherplant of the African water fern, prized for its dark, translucent green fronds that bring a wild, jungle texture to hardscape-led aquascapes. As an epiphyte it should never be buried in substrate; the rhizome will rot if covered. Instead it is tied or glued onto driftwood or stone, where it slowly establishes and softens harsh wood lines beautifully over a few months of patient growth.
Bolbitis is a slow, undemanding grower that suits Singapore aquascapers well, though it does prefer cooler, well-oxygenated water and stronger flow than many epiphytes. In our warm 27-29C tanks it grows steadily but appreciates good circulation and added CO2 for the lushest, largest fronds. It tolerates our soft, slightly acidic tap water, and being a large motherplant, this size lets you divide and spread it across a layout straight away.
Attach it properly using our guide to attaching plants to wood and rock, and quarantine new plants per our plant acclimation guide. See more under epiphytes.
