Cryptocoryne parva: the smallest crypt for SG foreground scapes

Parva is the true dwarf of the genus and our go-to when a hobbyist wants a green carpet-style foreground without the demands of HC or Monte Carlo. It is one of the slowest growers we carry, so patience is essential, but that same slow pace means almost no maintenance once it takes hold. At our ambient 27-29C it runs heaterless in most HDB and condo tanks, and it stays compact under decent light.

We always plant parva as several small portions spaced a couple of centimetres apart into a rich substrate, then add root tabs to feed those hungry roots. Brighter lighting and a little CO2 will speed the fill and keep growth tight, but it survives low-tech too. Like all crypts it may sulk briefly after transfer while adapting to your water; leave it undisturbed and it spreads slowly into a dense mat.
