4. Using new Piezo technology
Unlike traditional aquarium pumps, the Nano Piezo air pumps have no rotating parts and no motor. The drive is made by a ceramic plate, which is caused to oscillate by electric current. When an alternating current is applied to the plate, the piezoelectric ceramic plate expands and contracts again in the absence of the pulse, the repetition of this cycle producing the pumping action.

It is sized for tanks up to 60cm water depth and pairs with an air stone to lift oxygen levels. The mini footprint tucks behind a cabinet easily, and the low draw makes it cheap to run around the clock.

Aeration matters more here than in cooler climates, because warm 27-29C water holds less dissolved oxygen and densely stocked tanks can run short overnight. We suggest fitting a check valve in the airline so water cannot siphon back into the pump if it sits below the tank, which protects it during the power cuts we sometimes get in the monsoon months. Mount it slightly raised to reduce transmitted hum.
