This potted Glossostigma elatinoides gives you an established clump on rockwool rather than tissue-culture plantlets, so you can divide a fuller root mass straight into the substrate. From New Zealand and much in demand for Japanese-inspired scapes, it is among the smallest aquarium plants at 2-3cm tall, forming the bright, low green carpet that defines nature-style and iwagumi layouts among local aquascapers.

Rinse the rockwool, separate into small clumps of roughly an eighth of a pot, and plant them at spaced intervals so they creep together into a lawn. It is demanding and grows upward and leggy under weak light, so keep larger plants from shading it. Strong light, CO2 and a nutritious substrate are what keep it flat and dense. Singapore’s warm 27-29C tanks need no chiller, but stable conditions and gentle flow matter.
