ADA Pro-Scissors S Straight for Stem Work in SG Tanks

The 255mm straight Pro-Scissors S is the everyday detail trimmer for Singapore’s smaller planted tanks, where the straight blade excels at clean vertical cuts through stem plants. In our warm 27-29C water, stems like Rotala and Pogostemon push fast growth, so frequent tidy snips keep a hedge dense rather than leggy. We pair this straight type with the curved version so we can switch between stem cuts and carpet contouring without changing tools mid-session.

Cut stems just above a node to encourage branching, and remove trimmings promptly before they rot in the warm column and cloud the water. The straight blade also handles precut prep when planting new stems. As always in our humid climate, rinse off plant sap and dry the blades thoroughly, since moisture left in the pivot leads to stiffness and surface spotting over time.
