Trimming stems with the ANS PRO Tools spring scissors

Spring-loaded scissors take the fatigue out of a long trimming session: the spring reopens the blades for you, so when you are topping a dense thicket of stem plants your hand isn’t doing all the work cut after cut. At 160mm these are sized for general stem trimming, the straight blade slicing cleanly through Rotala, Ludwigia and Pogostemon so the cut tips heal fast instead of melting back.

Clean cuts matter most on the fast-growing stems that thrive in our warm, brightly lit local tanks, where a tank can need topping every week or two. Sharp stainless steel also encourages bushier regrowth from each cut node. As with all aquascaping tools here, dry the blades after use, because standing humidity, not hard work, is what eventually dulls and stiffens them.
