Keeping Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ in Tropical SG Tanks

This golden creeping Jenny is a cheerful, easy stem plant that brings a lime-yellow glow to the mid and background. We like recommending it to Singapore aquascapers who want bright contrast without fussy red-plant demands. It is naturally a temperate species, so it appreciates the cooler end of its comfort zone, but in practice we see it grow steadily in well-lit local tanks running at our usual warm room temperatures.

Because it pushes toward strong light to develop the best yellow tones, place it where your LED reaches generously and keep nitrate and iron available through regular dosing. The rounded paired leaves grow on flexible stems that can be left to arch or trimmed low to form a bushy cluster. In smaller HDB tanks it makes a striking colour break beside darker greens and reds, lifting the whole layout.

Replant the trimmed tops to thicken the stand and remove any lower leaves that shade out. For technique see our guides on stem plant trim and replant and balancing light and CO2, and explore more in our background plants collection.
