biOrb AIR Coir Brick for Terrarium Planting
The biOrb AIR coir brick is a compressed block of coconut coir made specifically for the AIR terrarium, expanding to around six litres of light, airy growing medium once hydrated. Coir holds moisture well while staying open enough for healthy root aeration, which suits the humidity-loving plants people typically grow in a biOrb AIR. Supplied compressed, it stores compactly until you need it, so keeping a spare brick on hand is easy in a small flat.
To prepare it, soak the brick in clean, dechlorinated water until it breaks apart and fluffs up, then fill the terrarium to your planting depth. In our warm, humid conditions coir tends to stay damp for a while, so let the automated watering and the capillary system do the work rather than overwatering by hand. Fluff and loosen the expanded medium before planting so roots can spread freely and drainage stays even across the base.
For planting guidance, see our terrarium ideas guide and our terrarium versus paludarium explainer, plus the minimalist wabi-kusa guide for design ideas. Find it within our biOrb aquariums range.
