Cleaning your biOrb with the Siphon Cleaner

The biOrb Siphon Cleaner is the right-sized tool for the job: a compact manual hand pump for siphoning dirty water and fine debris from the base of a biOrb during water changes. Full-size gravel vacuums are awkward in the narrow opening of a globe, so this purpose-made pump with its extension and siphon cover lets you reach the ceramic media and lift settled mulm without making a mess. In our warm tanks, where waste breaks down fast, regular debris removal is what keeps biOrb water clear.

Work the siphon gently over the surface of the media rather than digging deep, which can stir up trapped gunk all at once and cloud the water. Doing this at every water change reduces the organic load feeding algae on the acrylic, and means your single biOrb cartridge is not the only thing keeping the tank clean. Top up afterward with dechlorinated water at tank temperature.
