Keeping Punctatus Cory in Singapore Tanks
The Punctatus Cory is a peaceful, social catfish that spends its day sifting the substrate for scraps, making it a tidy bottom-dweller for community tanks. Like all corydoras it does best in a group, so we suggest keeping at least six together; in a small huddle they are nervous, but in numbers they forage confidently and shoal across the floor. They mix well with calm mid-water fish such as tetras, rasboras and pencilfish.
Substrate is the key detail. Sharp gravel wears down their delicate barbels, so a soft sand or smooth, rounded gravel keeps them healthy and feeding naturally. Our 27 to 29 degree tap temperature suits them without a heater, and they tolerate the soft, slightly acidic local water well. When you collect your fish, acclimatise slowly by floating the bag and matching temperature before release, since cories dislike sudden changes after transport.
