UP Aqua D-631 Powered Breeding Box

Unlike a passive floating box, this powered breeding box draws filtered tank water through it, so fry and a waiting mother fish get constant fresh, oxygenated flow rather than sitting in still water. The W-shaped insert lets newborn livebearer fry drop down to a protected lower layer, away from a stressed female that might otherwise eat them. Pull the insert out and you have an open compartment for grow-out, quarantine or holding a fish for recovery.

The powered flow is genuinely useful in our climate. At 27-29C, a small still container of water loses oxygen fast and waste accumulates quickly, both of which stress a gravid female; circulating tank water keeps conditions stable and matches the main tank’s temperature. Keep the box’s intake clear, feed fry small amounts often, and avoid overcrowding the compartment. It’s a tidy in-tank solution for SG keepers without space for a separate fry tank.
