Bucephalandra Catherine for Singapore Aquascapes

Catherine is a desirable Buce variety supplied here as a healthy rhizome portion, typically five to six leaves, ready to mount straight onto your hardscape. Its compact leaves can take on attractive dark green and bluish tones under stable light, adding fine detail to rockwork and driftwood. As a hardy Borneo rhizome plant it handles our ambient 27-29C water without a chiller, and its slow growth keeps it ideal for the nano and shrimp tanks common in local homes.

Glue or tie the rhizome to rock or driftwood and leave it exposed above the substrate, because burying it leads to rot in warm tap water. Buce care mirrors Anubias, so low to moderate light and gentle flow are all it needs; strong light only invites algae on the slow foliage. As the rhizome lengthens over the months you can divide it to spread the plant or trade cuttings, much like dividing an Anubias.
