Cooling a Nano Tank with the ANS Nano Cooling Fan 1000

A clip-on fan like the ANS Nano Cooling Fan 1000 is one of the cheapest ways to fight Singapore’s ambient heat. It blows across the water surface and drops tank temperature a degree or two through evaporation, which is often all a nano or shrimp tank needs to stay out of the danger zone during a hot afternoon. For many small heaterless setups in our climate, a surface fan is the practical first step before anyone reaches for a chiller.

The trade-off is faster evaporation, so top up with dechlorinated water more often and expect your TDS to creep up as the tank concentrates. Clip it on the rim aiming across, not down into, the surface for the best cooling per watt. During the monsoon months when humidity is high, evaporative cooling works less effectively, so judge results by your thermometer rather than assuming a fixed temperature drop.
