How long does the food keep after opening?
> Please ensure you buy a packaging size suitable for your aquarium/terrarium/pond so that the quantity contained is used up within 4 months. Compare it with a tin of biscuits lying around for several months. When properly stored they are not necessarily soggy, but they are not quite as tasty as when the packet was opened. Therefore it is not advisable to use the food after this time.
The repeated opening and closing of the packaging brings the food into contact with bacteria and humidity over a longer storage period. Thus the quality of the premium food reduces continuously and this influences the vitamin content and the freshness of the food. For the benefit of your animals you always should feed them fresh food.
JBL NovoStick M Cichlid Sticks for SG Predator Tanks
NovoStick M is a high-protein floating stick built for carnivorous cichlids in the 10-25cm range, which covers a lot of the oscars, parrots and mid-size Central American cichlids we see in Singapore living rooms. The protein comes mainly from real fish meat rather than cheap meal, so it supports growth and condition without the murky water and rapid fouling that low-grade sticks cause in our warm tanks. The 250ml tin suits one or two fish, while the 1000ml is better value for a stocked cichlid setup.
Because the sticks float, they suit surface and mid-water feeders and let you watch exactly how much each fish takes, which makes portion control easier and keeps leftovers down. In our 27-29C ambient, uneaten food decays quickly, so feed what the fish clear in a couple of minutes. Better digestibility also means less waste and lower phosphate, helping keep algae in check in these often sparsely-planted tanks.
