Using the iLonda Electric Gravel Cleaner in SG Tanks

This battery-operated gravel cleaner takes the strain out of water changes by powering the siphon for you, so you can vacuum substrate without the usual juggling of buckets and start-up suction. Running on two C-size batteries at 3W, it is a tidy option for HDB and condo aquarists who maintain a tank in a tight corner where a full bucket-and-hose setup is awkward to manoeuvre.

It comes with extension tubes, a sand-washing cup and filter bags, letting you lift detritus from gravel while returning cleaned water, useful when you want to spot-clean without draining a large volume. Note it uses C batteries only, not USB, so we suggest keeping spares on hand. In our humid storeroom conditions, dry the unit fully after each session to protect the battery contacts.
