This glass drop checker is the piece of kit we recommend to anyone running pressurised CO2 who wants confidence rather than guesswork. The principle is simple: the supplied pH reagent reacts to dissolved CO2 and shifts colour, giving you a continuous read inside the tank. We hang ours diagonally opposite the diffuser so the reading reflects the whole water column, and we let it settle for an hour or two after any adjustment since the reaction always trails the actual water.

Local hobbyists should note Singapore tap water is naturally soft and slightly acidic. As the product notes, very low pH can leave the reagent yellow from the start, masking your reading, so a water change to lift pH back into a usable range fixes that. Aim to inject so the indicator settles into a stable green an hour before lights-on, and always watch livestock for surface gasping as a real-time safety check.
