They attach and eat any just molted and vulnerable shrimp. In order to remove these unpleasent organism, we can use this catch pen to remove plannaria without chemical or medication due to shrimp’s sensitivty to these elements.
Plannaria is a non-parasitic flatworm that could exist in our shrimp tanks due to lack of fish.

Clearing planaria with the ANS Catch Worm Pen

Planaria turning up in a shrimp tank is a common worry among Singapore breeders, and this catch pen is the gentle, chemical-free answer we point them to. Because dwarf shrimp are so sensitive to the dewormers often used against flatworms, a physical trap is much safer for a prized colony. You bait the pen, push it into the substrate so shrimplets cannot crawl in, and lift it out the next day with the planaria collected inside, ready to rinse and reset.

This approach suits the busy, well-fed shrimp tanks many of us run in warm 27-29C water, where leftover food can fuel a planaria bloom quickly. Trapping over a few nights, paired with tighter feeding so there is less for them to eat, usually brings numbers right down without touching your water chemistry or stressing the shrimp.
