Dosing API Leaf Zone in a Singapore Planted Tank
Leaf Zone is an easy entry point for hobbyists running low-tech planted tanks without CO2, which describes a lot of HDB and condo setups where a pressurised system feels like too much fuss. Its iron and potassium focus suits undemanding plants like Java fern, Anubias and the stem plants many of us start with. Because it is absorbed straight through the leaves, it works best in tanks with decent flow so the nutrients reach every corner of the layout.
In our soft, slightly acidic local tap water, iron stays reasonably available, but we still advise dosing little and often rather than one big weekly hit, since excess in a warm tank can feed algae before plants take it up. Start at the lower end of the label rate, watch new growth for a week, and only increase if older leaves stay pale. Pair it with root feeding for heavy-rooted species that draw nutrients from the substrate.
