When a fish in your tank shows frayed fins, a fuzzy patch or a reddened sore, fast action matters far more than the exact label on the bottle. We stock General Aid as a broad first-response treatment for the common bacterial and fungal complaints that crop up in home tanks here. The warm 27-29C water many of us run unheated speeds bacterial growth, so a minor nip can turn into visible finrot within days if left unwatched.

Always dose the affected fish in a separate hospital tank rather than your display whenever you can. This protects beneficial bacteria in your main filter, lets you remove activated carbon and chemical media cleanly, and avoids staining or stressing shrimp and snails. Follow the bottle’s dosing for your actual water volume, keep gentle aeration running because medicated warm water holds less oxygen, and finish the full course even once the fish looks better.
