Description
Gold Salt™ is designed to provide the optimal environment for all goldfish species. The use of Gold Salt™ also aids in the prevention of nitrite poisoning. The salt is also well suited for routine aquarium freshwater use. It does not impact pH or provide buffering. For pH control use Gold Buffer™. For dechlorination use Gold Basics™. For further goldfish environment enhancement, use Gold Trace™ to restore the proper level of trace elements and feed NutriDiet® Goldfish Flakes for thriving, healthy goldfish.

Aids in the prevention of nitrite poisoning
Use 18 g (1 tablespoon) for each 40 L (10 US gallons). Use when setting up an aquarium and when making water changes. To add salt to an established tank, do so gradually. It is best to dissolve the salt in a small amount of freshwater before use. Avoid using salt when replacing evaporated water.
Seachem Gold Salt 300g for SG Goldfish Tanks
Gold Salt is formulated to create a favourable environment for goldfish and to help guard against nitrite poisoning, a real risk in heavily stocked goldfish tanks that produce a lot of waste. It does not alter pH or add buffering, so it works independently of your buffering routine; for pH you would use a dedicated buffer. We see it as a supportive addition to good husbandry rather than a standalone solution.
Goldfish are messy and grow large, and in our warm rooms their waste breaks down quickly, which is why keeping the nitrogen cycle healthy and well-managed matters so much. The mild protective effect against nitrite is most useful during cycling or after a stocking change when nitrite can creep up. As always, we pair it with sensible stocking and consistent water changes rather than leaning on additives.
It sits in our conditioners and medication range. Read our goldfish care guide and the nitrogen cycle for beginners article to keep your tank stable.
