Cryptocoryne Wendtii ‘Green’ for Singapore Beginner Tanks
The plain green wendtii is the workhorse of the crypt world and one of the first plants we hand to new hobbyists. It thrives across a wide range, comfortably handling the warm 27-29C water in heaterless Singapore tanks and the soft, slightly acidic profile of dechlorinated tap. Low light is enough, CO2 is optional, and it asks for little beyond a stable environment, which makes it a dependable midground and foreground filler in low-tech scapes.
Whether you receive a pot or TC cup, separate the clump into smaller portions and plant each so the rhizome sits at the substrate surface with roots buried. Crypt melt is normal after replanting or a parameter shift, so resist the urge to dig it up. New submerged leaves emerge within a fortnight, and over time runners spread the colony sideways to form a lush green carpet of foliage.
Read our wendtii care guide and low-tech planted tank guide for a stable start, and find more varieties in our cryptocoryne live plants collection.
