Description

This beautiful variation of Cryptocoryne nurii was found growing in the wild in Malaysia around 1970. In the aquarium hobby it became popular under the name ‘Rose Maiden’.
The plant is as easy to grow as Cryptocoryne wendtii and has the same size and leaf shape. It will, given the time, produce runners under the bottom layer, often showing up quite far from the mother plant.
Intensity of colour and patterns in leaves is dependant on light and nutrition.

Tropica Cryptocoryne nurii ‘Rose Maiden’ for Local Aquascapers

This handsome Malaysian variety, long loved in the hobby as ‘Rose Maiden’, delivers patterned leaves with the same easygoing temperament as Cryptocoryne wendtii. In a 1-2-Grow! cup you receive multiple clean plantlets free of snails and algae, ready to scatter through the midground. We enjoy it for the way colour and pattern shift with light intensity, so the same plant can look subtly different from tank to tank.

Given time, it sends runners beneath the substrate and surfaces new rosettes some distance from the parent, gradually building a natural-looking cluster. That habit suits Singapore hobbyists who want a planting to spread on its own without weekly fuss. Our warm ambient water keeps it growing steadily, and a nutritious substrate with the occasional root tab brings out richer tones. Allow the usual crypt settling time before judging its final appearance.

See more of the genus in our cryptocoryne-live-plants category. Our Cryptocoryne nurii care guide covers its quirks, while our plant acclimation guide helps it settle in quickly.
