At 26-35cm, this branchy driftwood is a versatile mid-size piece we recommend for the two to three-foot tanks that fit most Singapore homes. The reaching branches break up open water and create the layered depth that flat rock alone cannot, while giving shrimp, plecos and shy fish welcome hiding spots. Two or three pieces can be linked into a single sprawling structure, or one used as a clean focal point in a nano on a desk or shelf.

Fresh driftwood often floats and leaches tannin in our warm water, so we suggest soaking or weighing it down for a few days; the light amber tint that follows is harmless and fades with water changes, and many shrimp and soft-water keepers actually like it. The rough bark holds moss and epiphytes well, letting you grow an overgrown, naturalistic look that suits our soft, slightly acidic tap water.
