ANS Ghostwood Driftwood (Rare!)

Ghost Wood is a sandblasted driftwood often chosen for vivarium’s, terrariums, and aquariums. It features a light palette with shades of beige and brown. After soaking and placement in an aquarium, its colors deepen and become more striking under quality LED lighting. The wood’s smooth texture and natural curves offer good shapes for aquascaping. Commonly used in driftwood-only setups, Ghost Wood can soften the water and release tannins, causing a slight tint that can be easily controlled with regular aquarium care.

Ghost Wood is a natural item and it should be noted that sizes are an average and may vary +/- a few inches.
Aquarium driftwood is buoyant and will need to soak thoroughly prior to use to ensure it sinks in the aquarium.

Aquascaping with ANS Ghostwood driftwood

Ghostwood is a sandblasted driftwood with pale beige and brown tones and smooth, twisting branches that read beautifully under good LED light, where the colours deepen once submerged. It suits driftwood-only and nature layouts, vivariums and paludariums, and the fine branching gives lovely points to anchor moss and epiphytes like Anubias and Bucephalandra. We stock it as a rarer piece, so each one has its own character for a centrepiece scape.

Fresh wood floats and will leach tannins, gently softening the water and tinting it amber, an effect many aquascapers actually want but one you can keep in check with regular water changes and a little carbon. Soak or weigh the piece down until it stays put, and expect a harmless film of biofilm in the first weeks that shrimp and otos happily graze. In our soft, slightly acidic tap water the tannin shift is mild and easy to manage.
