ANS Malayan Driftwood L (40-48cm) for Larger Scapes
At 40-48cm, the Large grade gives you a single anchoring branch for a three-foot or wider layout without piecing several smaller bits together. Sourced regionally, Malayan wood carries dense, characterful grain that suits nature-style and biotope scapes, and like most driftwood it releases tannins that nudge water toward the softer, slightly acidic side our dechlorinated SG tap already favours. We position a piece this size first, then build stone and substrate contours around it.
Expect a fresh piece to float until waterlogged; with a branch this large we weight it down with a base stone or tie it to slate hidden in the substrate while it cures over days to weeks. A soak also leaches the first tannin flush if you want clearer water on day one. A pale biofilm in the early weeks is normal in warm tanks and usually grazed off by shrimp and otos.
