ANS Malayan Aquascape Stick M (20-40cm)
These slimmer Malayan sticks at 20-40cm are the fine, branchy counterpart to chunkier driftwood, prized for adding twig-like detail and a sense of fallen-branch realism to a scape. We reach for them to break up bold hardscape with delicate lines, to suggest a thicket above a stone base, or to create the spidery silhouette that nature-style and biotope tanks lean on. Like all driftwood, they leach tannins that gently soften and tint the water.
Being thin and light, sticks float persistently until waterlogged, so we usually wedge them under stones or tie several together with the bases hidden while they cure over a week or two. A short soak also draws off the first tannins if a clear display is the aim. Their many crevices make excellent grip points for moss and epiphytes, and shrimp graze the early biofilm that forms on them in our warm tanks.
