The RQ1820 Castle as a Centrepiece Hideout
The RQ1820 castle measures roughly 17.5 by 12.5 by 16cm, which makes it a genuine centrepiece rather than an accent in a small tank. In our experience advising Singapore keepers, a piece this tall suits a 60cm tank or larger; in a nano it crowds out swimming space. The arches and windows double as a real hiding warren, useful for nervous species in busy HDB living rooms where foot traffic passes the tank often.
Because it is solid resin, it adds noticeable weight, so we seat it on the substrate before filling rather than dropping it into a full tank where it can chip glass. We give it a treated-water rinse first, since our chloraminated supply leaves residue that a plain tap rinse won’t clear. Positioned slightly off-centre, it follows the rule of thirds and looks far more natural than dead-centre.
