The RQ20801 Boat Deco for Nautical Tanks

The RQ20801 boat runs about 23.5 by 10 by 12.5cm, a mid-size feature that sits comfortably in a 40 to 60cm tank. It is the kind of ornament that anchors a nautical or harbour theme, which we find popular with families setting up a first community tank in an HDB flat where the kids want something recognisable rather than an abstract nature scape. The hull and deck cavities give small fish a place to dart in and out.

Resin boats float surprisingly readily when air is trapped inside, so we submerge and tilt the piece underwater first to let bubbles escape, then bed it firmly on the substrate. Rinse it in dechlorinated water before that, since our chloraminated tap supply leaves a film. Set on a sand or fine-gravel bottom, it reads as a wreck settling onto the seabed and pairs naturally with the sea fan and coral pieces.
