Description

ANUBIAS BARTERI VAR.CALADIIFOLIA
Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia originates from an Australian tissue propagation laboratory.
It is a very beautiful variety with heart-shaped leaves.
The leaves live for several years, so Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia can easily form large groups despite its slow growth.
A group of Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia growing more than 50 cm wide in a few years is not unusual.

Growing Tropica Anubias Barteri Var. Caladiifolia in Singapore

The heart-shaped leaves of caladiifolia give this Anubias a distinctive, almost sculptural profile that sets it apart from the more familiar nana. It’s a slow grower that rewards patience, eventually forming substantial clumps over a couple of years, so we treat it as a long-term structural plant in a scape rather than quick green fill. The leathery leaves shrug off most fish nibbling and last for years.

Like all Anubias, the rhizome must never be buried, or it rots; instead we tie or glue it to driftwood or stone and let the roots grip on. This is a forgiving plant in Singapore tanks, tolerating our warm 27-29C water and thriving under modest lighting without CO2, which makes it ideal for low-tech setups. To slow the algae that can settle on slow-growing leaves, keep light moderate and flow gentle but present.

It arrives in a Tropica pot for easy handling; rinse and remove the rockwool before mounting. See our full epiphytes range, and our Anubias care guide and driftwood aquascaping guide will help you position it well.
