Description

ANUBIAS BARTERI VAR. CALADIIFOLIA
Large motherplant, grown in a 9 cm square pot.
Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia originates from an Australian tissue propagation laboratory.
It is a very beautiful variety with heart-shaped leaves.
The leaves live for several years, so Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia can easily form large groups despite its slow growth.
A group of Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia growing more than 50 cm wide in a few years is not unusual.

Growing Tropica Anubias Caladiifolia XL in Singapore

This XL motherplant arrives in a 9cm pot as a robust, heart-leaved Anubias variety prized for its slow, steady growth and years-long leaves. Like all Anubias, it is an epiphyte: do not bury the rhizome in substrate, or it will rot. Instead tie or glue it onto driftwood or rock and let the roots grip over a few weeks. It is a forgiving, low-light plant that fits the easy-going planted tanks many local hobbyists keep.

Singapore’s warm 27-29C tap water sits at the upper edge of Anubias comfort, so keep flow gentle and steady around the plant and avoid stagnant pockets where the broad leaves can collect detritus and algae. There is no CO2 requirement, though modest dosing speeds it along. Acclimate it gradually and rinse off any tissue-culture gel before mounting to reduce melt as it adjusts to your tank.
