This open-cell blue mat gives beneficial bacteria a huge, evenly distributed surface while staying pH-neutral, so it neither pushes nor pulls your parameters, an advantage in Singapore’s soft local water. Cut it to size for canister baskets, top filters, sump trays or pond boxes, and it slots in as a biological stage that water passes through rather than around. Its neutral chemistry suits a wide spread of livestock, from goldfish and tetras to koi, parrot cichlids and shrimp.

We often layer a coarser mechanical pad ahead of it so the bio mat stays clear of heavy detritus and keeps its pores open for bacteria. In our warm 27-29C climate those colonies stay active continuously, steadily processing ammonia and nitrite from your stock. The mat is forgiving to maintain: a gentle squeeze in a bucket of treated tank water removes sludge without wiping out the colony you cultivated.
