Description
This filter media is designed to capture large particles and debris while maintaining excellent water flow. One layer effectively filters items like leaves, rocks, algae clumps, seed pods, fish food pellets, plant fragments, cigarette butts, and plastic waste. It’s simple to cut into any shape you need and easy to clean—just rinse with a garden hose and the dirt washes away effortlessly.
This filter mat is made from curly fiber Thermo-Polypropylene Compounds (TPPC) or Thermo-polyethylene Compounds (TPEC), formed into layers with varying thicknesses to meet diverse filtration needs, can be used effectively as both a mechanical and biological filter.
Features:
Size: 2mx1mx2.5cm
Thickness: 3cm
Super coarse, low density, rigid
Does not effect pH
Great for koi pond, big tank and aquaculture
Using ANS Coarse Filter Mat as a mechanical stage
This black coarse mat is built from springy curly-fibre polymer that traps larger debris while letting water pass freely, so it is the workhorse first stage in a sump, canister or top filter and a great pre-filter on pond intakes. The open structure holds plenty of muck before it restricts flow, and the dark colour disappears into the background of an open setup. We like it because one sheet cuts cleanly to any chamber shape with scissors.
Always place coarse mechanical media ahead of your fine pads and biological rings, so it catches the bulk of solids and keeps the rest of the train clean and flowing. Cleaning is genuinely easy: lift it out and rinse with a hose or in a pail of old tank water until the dirt washes free, then reuse it. In our warm climate, where waste breaks down fast, that quick rinse routine keeps nitrate and clog-related flow loss down.
