This 10-metre roll of 2cm white wool is your mechanical stage, the layer that traps suspended particles before water reaches your biomedia. Buying it by the roll lets you cut pads to fit any canister tray, hang-on-back chamber or sump section, which is handy when you run several tanks. We position it as the first thing water hits, so debris is caught early and the biological media downstream stays cleaner and works longer.

Because it is fine and dense, the wool polishes water to a noticeable clarity, useful in planted and shrimp tanks where fine mulm clouds the view. It rinses and reuses a few times before it loses loft; once it stays flat, swap in a fresh cut. In our warm climate filters silt up faster, so checking the wool weekly keeps flow strong and prevents bypass.
