Biological filtration with ANS Sinopore Max sintered glass rings
Sinopore Max is a sintered glass biomedia whose porous structure offers far more colonisable surface area than solid ceramic rings, giving beneficial nitrifying bacteria room to establish a deep, stable colony. More bacterial real estate means a more resilient cycle that copes better with feeding spikes and the heavy bioloads common in local cichlid and monster-fish tanks. The neutral material won’t shift your pH, so it suits both freshwater and marine systems.
Supplied with a net bag in 300g, 1kg and 2kg sizes, it drops straight into a canister tray, sump chamber, top filter or trickle tower. In our warm water, biological filtration works hard because metabolism and waste production run high year-round, so generous biomedia is a sensible investment. Rinse new media in dechlorinated or tank water, and when cleaning, swish gently in old tank water rather than tap to protect your bacteria.
Browse the wider filter-media range. Our sintered glass media guide and canister media order guide show how to layer it correctly.
